Advanced Funeral  and Farewell Wishes

There is still discomfort in Scotland with discussing death and that is heightened at the thought of preparing our own funeral/memorial. As a trainee this was one of the hardest things I had to do. In Scotland we’re not renowned for ‘blowing our own trumpet’ which is only one of the many taboos surrounding the process of death and our social reaction to it.

As a Celebrant, preplanning with you, I can help you carry the essence of your voice into the ceremony and help your family and loved ones implement your plans as discussed. I will help you consider, and explicitly specify, your wishes for your funeral/memorial. Ensuring resonance with your life, the one that we are commemorating.

This often takes pressure off and brings comfort to those you love. As you revisit your life and consider the aspects of importance to you your loved ones do not have to make difficult important decisions at a time of great stress for them.

Writing advanced funeral and farewell wishes includes documenting many administration elements of your end of life wishes, such as preferred Funeral Director, preference for Celebrant/Priest/Minister/other religious leader, the existence of a pre-paid funeral plan, who holds your Will, and many other details. In addition, you can include the preparation of personal messages, written, recorded or filmed and perhaps you want a guest speaker.
